Join our host, CG Supervisor, Prashant Nair who will explore the Invisible Art of Animation with Animation Supervisor, Nathan McConnell and our Mumbai studio’s Head of Animation, Riyad Chalakkara.

Meet our Speakers

Prashant Nair, CG Supervisor


With 23 years of experience, Prashant has worked on iconic films like The Martian, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s also contributed to Deadpool & Wolverine, Thor: Love and Thunder, Wonka, and The Little Mermaid. His work has earned prestigious awards, including a BAFTA for His Dark Materials and an Oscar for The Jungle Book.


Riyad Chalakkara, Head of Animation in Mumbai


Riyad’s two-decade animation career encompasses a wide range of major feature animation projects for DreamWorks, including Madagascar 3, Trolls and Kung Fu Panda 3. Following a successful eight-year run at Dreamworks his career took him from India to China, where he was tasked with establishing an international film production team for Base Animation in order to deliver Sony Pictures Animation’s Wish Dragon.


Nathan McConnel, Animation Supervisor


After receiving a BA in Fine Art and Psychology and a Masters in Computer Animation, Nathan has worked around the world in a variety of roles from general artist, to compositor, to animation supervisor, giving a unique 360 view of the VFX industry. Since becoming Animation Supervisor in 2011, he has worked on the critically acclaimed Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok. Nathan’s work on the Academy Award-nominated Doctor Strange, bringing to life Strange’s Cloak, received great acclaim. He also recently worked on the third and final Guardians of the Galaxy film.
