Deadpool and Wolverine: The Art of Blood and Guts
From pre-production to final VFX, Framestore’s teams crafted over 420 complex, and gloriously bloody, shots for Deadpool & Wolverine. This online panel will take you deep into the most Deadpool-esque sequences, exploring the artistry and technical brilliance behind them.
Join VFX Supervisor Matt Twyford and Senior Visualization Supervisor Kaya Jabar as they break down everything from previsualization and on-set support to postvisualization and the final seamless stitch of The Bus Oner. Matt will also be joined by Global Head of Creatures, Markus Schmidt to reveal the creative and technical challenges behind Cassandra’s unsettling "hands through face" effect and the intricate facial distortions of Paradox.
Meet the Speakers
Matt Twyford | VFX Supervisor
Emmy nominee Matt Twyford has developed so many eye-popping superpowers over the years that we wouldn't be surprised if he had his own crime-fighting alter-ego. He was most recently seen supervising work for the box office-crushing Deadpool & Wolverine, crafting everything from visually stunning fights to the wince-inducing moment when villain Cassandra gets hands-on (or rather hands-in) with Mr Paradox.
Prior to this, he was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the second season of Loki (delivering the incredible 'time slipping' and 'spaghettification' effects, among other standout work), as well as Thor: Love & Thunder and the VES Award-winning Project Power. Other projects bearing his stamp include Avengers: Endgame, the first two Guardians of the Galaxy instalments, Doctor Strange and Gravity.
Kaya Jabar | Senior Visualisation Supervisor
Kaya Jabar is a multidisciplinary visualisation supervisor with unique experience leading previs, postvis, techvis and virtual production for tentpole film and TV projects.
A regular on the international speaking circuit and one of the most influential women working in VFX, Kaya joined FPS as a pre-production supervisor, working across previs, postvis and virtual production, as well as providing on-set technical direction and planning for complex VFX and practical setups.
