Chris Lawrence
Chris Lawrence’s 20-year VFX career has seen him earn four Academy Award nominations, most recently in 2021 for George Clooney’s epic sci-fi feature The Midnight Sky.
Chris has leant his love for film-making to franchises from Harry Potter to The Kingsman, and received both an Oscar and a BAFTA for his work on Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (on which he worked for three years as CG Supervisor, from previs through to production), as well as Oscar nominations for his work as VFX Supervisor on Ridley Scott’s The Martian and Disney’s Christopher Robin.
Beyond his exemplary supervisory career, Chris also helped to establish Framestore’s successful Montreal Studio. He served as the studio’s Head, recruiting and managing the teams who worked on titles such as RoboCop and Edge of Tomorrow.
Having delivered some 500 shots for the The Midnight Sky (where he informed early conversations on VFX methodology; oversaw the use of cutting edge facial capture technology and ensured key digital sets supported the film’s storytelling). Chris is now set to work on a fully-animated CG feature.
