Ben Magana
Benjamin Magaña is a seasoned VFX Supervisor whose career is defined by a sophisticated technical foundation and a creative eye for complex, high-stakes visual storytelling. Benjamin’s career trajectory is marked by a seamless blend of engineering rigor and artistic flair. He launched his career in Mexico City at Ollin Studio VFX, contributing to visually groundbreaking projects such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Tron Legacy. This early focus on technically demanding 3D artistry led him to MPC, where he refined his expertise in lighting and look development on high-profile titles like Prometheus and Dark Shadows.
Since joining Framestore in 2012, Benjamin has been instrumental in delivering some of the studio's most iconic sequences. His experience spans a vast array of genres, from the orbital physics of Alfonso Cuarón’s Oscar-winning Gravity to the high-octane spectacle of Deadpool 2 and Marvel’s Captain Marvel. His leadership was also vital in bringing a diverse cast of magical characters to life for John Krasinski’s IF, as well as overseeing complex world-building for The School for Good and Evil.
He is currently leading Framestore’s work on the third season of the epic Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Prior to this, Benjamin spearheaded the VFX for Jon M. Chu’s Wicked: For Good, delivering a masterclass in immersive environment building and stylized realism.
