The Diplomat Season 2
Following the explosive cliffhanger of season one, Netflix’s The Diplomat returned for a second season, with our team being brought on to craft over 500 shots for all the show's visual effects and help continue the story of Kate Wyler, played by Keri Russell.
Picking up where the season one left off, our artists, led by VFX Supervisor John Kilshaw, On Set VFX Supervisor Pedro Sabrosa, and Comp Supervisor Illia Afanasiev, brought to life a range of visual effects, from invisible VFX, seasonal changes, and crowd duplication to a CG plane, FX fireworks, and green screens. These elements seamlessly blend into the show, remaining grounded in reality and complementing the cast’s high-stake performances.
One of the team's key tasks was to transform a winter landscape of barren trees and snowy floors into a Fourth of July setting. This included replacing snow on the ground and bringing the barren trees back to life by adding foliage. By building an efficient 2D photo elements library for greenery and foliage, they streamlined the process and produced beautiful, photoreal results.
