Comic and Motion Books

Founded in 2011 by Ben Wolstenholme, Liam Sharp and Eugene Walden, Madefire is a technology-enabled content company with an award-winning mobile app and  cutting-edge publishing platform, Motion Book Publisher. It allows comic and motion book creators to connect directly with their audience using the platform’s digital-first approach to make their titles available across platforms in multiple formats.

To complement an investment it has made in the platform, Framestore Ventures is developing a slate of original content  owned and created by the studio specifically for the Madefire platform. This original content slate was kicked off by Somnia: Origins, a comic book origin story tie-in for Somnia, a VR project that was Framestore’s first foray into original VR content.

‘Our partnership with, and investment in, Madefire furthers Framestore’s goal of telling compelling stories across as many platforms as possible,’ said Gaby Darbyshire, Director of Framestore Ventures. ‘Madefire’s technology makes developing a slate of content on the platform exciting because as a studio, Framestore loves taking advantage of the latest innovations to connect with consumers across different media.’

The second title available on Madefire is Presidential Dark, a series that tells the story of the secret history of the forces that have haunted the minds of America’s most notorious leaders. It starts with a four-issue mini-series 'Nixon’s Demons', more about which can be seen here

The Madefire app is available on Android, iOS and Windows as well as Android TV and Apple TV. Also available on the Oculus Gear VR, consumers are able to immersive themselves in their favourite stories with an experience that takes reading to a whole new level, with motion, sound and the ability to see the story in 3D in a 360° environment. And now, Madefire titles will also be available on Magic Leap One.

Some of Madefire’s partners and clients include DC Comics, Blizzard Entertainment, Marvel Comics, FOX, Apple, Microsoft, Archie Comics and Valiant Entertainment.
