Launchpad Apprenticeship
Apprenticeships are very different from a full-time course. You earn as you learn and most of your learning happens in the workplace. You will be trained on the job, by people at the very top of their game. You'll gain valuable experience, job-specific skills, earn a wage and get holiday pay. You'll also spend around 20% of your time studying in a classroom, learning the deeper, wider knowledge you need to progress your career.
"By developing our Level 4 apprenticeships we hope to open the door to a wider pool of talented individuals and to ensure that this fast-growing industry continues to be successful, innovative and cutting-edge".
Amy Smith, Global Director, Recruitment & Outreach
Who is it for?
Our program is targeted at candidates who have a CG generalist or entry level knowledge and experience using industry standard tools including Maya or Nuke, but need to take that first step into the industry.
Who is it for?
The roles of Junior 2D artist and Assistant Technical Director will be open to EU citizens who are school or college leavers or who are looking for a career change from another industry; encouraging inclusive, diverse and accessible recruitment within the industry.
How does it work?
Led by a Framestore training supervisor in a classroom environment, students will participate in a series of hands-on challenges to bring the application of their skills up to industry standards. We have a history of providing industry-leading courses within VFX, and have developed the course with Framestore’s unique pipeline and tools in mind. The course runs across several months, is fully funded by Framestore, and free of charge for the selected students.
The program will develop a unique theoretical and practical skill set in our students, as well as giving access to a number of Framestore experts, through masterclasses and specific technical challenges. Developed in collaboration with key Framestore creative and technical personnel, we have collaborated with external training providers to design the bespoke training courses.
Past courses have been in Animation, Compositing, Environments, Paint and Roto, Production and Creature FX, with plans to develop further courses in additional disciplines.
What do I get out of it?
Students who successfully complete the course will be offered a standard contract for full time employment within the relevant department at Framestore.
How do I apply?
Applications usually open twice a year and will need to be submitted via the NextGen Skills Academy.
