Sky Q Netflix
Framestore reunited with Brothers and Sisters to promote the introduction of Netflix to Sky’s streaming service, Sky Q. Directed by Ne-O through Stink Films, the film sees frontman Idris Elba jump from celebrated Netflix show to celebrated Sky show, seamlessly integrated into the content thanks to some artful compositing and sharp in-camera captures.
The scenes called for a clever combination of skills and careful planning with Framestore carrying out previs and technical planning ahead of the shoot. Careful analysis of the Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and Tin Star show footage, allowed us to determine camera lenses, positions, movement and lighting in the original footage, which was then used to inform the on-set conditions, to ensure that Idris shot against greyscreen could be successfully composited into the respective scenes. Framestore were of course also present on set, where elements of the various show settings were recreated to further enhance the integration.
In the grade, Colourist Steffan Perry worked to match the newly shot footage to the look and feel of each show; a final master grade was then applied, to balance the spot and its many components as one - echoing Sky’s message that the best TV, really, is found in one place.
The campaign will be seen across television, online and out-of-home in the run-up to the service’s November launch, and marks yet another successful collaboration between Framestore, Brothers and Sisters and the Sky brand.
