Christian Kaestner
Combining a lifelong love of cinema and visual art with a forensic eye for detail, Christian's VFX expertise encompasses everything from tentpole cinematic events to high-profile episodic productions.
His career has seen him work on a wide range of landmark projects, from the Oscar-winning Gravity to the likes of Paddington, Where The Wild Things Are, Avatar and The Dark Knight. These distinctive, epochal moments in modern cinema demanded not only the best in VFX, but a creative who intrinsically understands how their craft can propel and heighten masterful storytelling. His work on Quantum of Solace was also nominated for a VES Award.
As Production VFX Supervisor on 1899, he led a huge, multidisciplinary team spanning concept art, visualisation, virtual production and a globe-spanning team of VFX studios — a role that earned him a German Television Award win.
Most recently, Christian delivered photoreal creatures and epic action sequences for Ridley Scott’s monumental Gladiator II. Christian is currently working on The Sheep Detectives, an upcoming live-action animated feature based on Leonie Swann's acclaimed 2005 novel.
