No Way, Norway
When Will Ferrell is involved, you know you’re going to be in for a wild ride. Gracing our screens for a hilariously action-packed adventure, General Motors enlists the actor on a mission to rectify the fact that Norway sells more elective vehicles per capita than the U.S.
With the help of comedic actor Kenan Thompson and actress Awkwafina, the three venture to the Nordic region to get even -- promoting GM’s Ultium batteries made for all EV vehicles along the way.
The Super Bowl spot, directed by Jake Szymanski of Gifted Youth and created by McCann Detroit and McCann Worldgroup, aired as part of GM’s ‘Everybody In’ campaign, announcing it will have 30 new electric vehicles available by 2025.
Framestore joined the party during pre-production, developing VFX methodologies to bring our celebrities to Scandinavia, creating extensive environment augmentation, CG container ships, green screen comps, split screens, morphs, 2D elements and effects, animation, lighting, and flame finishing.
“Up against a challenging turnaround time, the quality of the script and the passion and vision brought by the team at McCann, including Michael Razor and Adam Van Dyke, made this project a pleasure to join forces on,” said Framestore Creative Director, Alex Thomas.
The national spot was seen in the first quarter as well as on the brand’s digital and social channels. Don't forget to check out one of the cheeky teasers below!
