Framing 20 Years in NY with Will Frazier

To mark two decades of Framestore in New York, we're highlighting the talent behind the studio's success. We spoke with members of our New York team across disciplines to reflect on the studio's legacy, their favorite projects, and what makes the Big Apple such a special place to create.

Meet Will Frazier, Associate Creative Director.

What’s your favorite borough or neighborhood in NYC? Why?

This entirely depends on who I’m with and what we are doing, but as of late this is between The Meatpacking District - specifically the Whitney Museum, Chelsea Market’s Los Tacos #1 and ARTECHOUSE, as well as the Little Island and Soho House - or spending time in Bushwick… because nightlife.

What’s your go-to bodega order?

A turkey sandwich on a roll with Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, some onions, salt pepper, mayo and dijon mustard. The beauty of this order is that it ends up tasting the same no matter what bodega you order it from.

What NYC tourist activity have you yet to do?

I’m one of the few native New Yorkers at Framestore’s NY studio, so I’ve naturally done almost none of the major tourist attractions here in the city. I finally visited the top of the Empire State Building this past year for the first time. One tourist attraction on my list is the SUMMIT observation deck at One Vanderbilt, as Framestore created the venue’s stunning visuals.

What has been your favorite project or client collaboration in your tenure at Framestore?

This goes without saying, but working on the GEICO Gecko in collaboration with The Martin Agency and GEICO has felt like a family for a long time. I couldn’t ask for better “clients” to have creatively collaborated with for all of these years.

Why is the GEICO Gecko such an iconic character/brand mascot for the New York office?

Aside from the GEICO Gecko being arguably the most well known characters on television and in the advertising space in the US, I think he represents the deep relationships we build with our clients and is a testament to the level of trust that's put in Framestore to bring their brand characters to life.

In your opinion, what project or milestone represents the Framestore New York office’s legacy and why?

In addition to our ongoing work on the GEICO Gecko, our NY team’s recent work on Netflix’s live-action adaptation of ONE PIECE has been fantastic and has set a new standard for the type of work we are crafting in the Episodic realm.
