From their print edition this month, Befores and Afters interviewed VFX Supervisor, David Simpson on orchestrating the chaos that takes place in Washington D.C at the end of Alex Garland’s Civil War. Exploring everything from overcoming the logistical nightmare of filming in downtown Atlanta to the 13 square miles of CG city they built for film.

Led by Production VFX Supervisor David Simpson our teams in London and Mumbai delivered work that’s epic but understated: a staggering feat of worldbuilding for a film that critics are hailing as ‘horrifying’, ‘gut-twisting’ and ‘jaw-droppingly beautiful.’
