We are working on Moonfall
We're thrilled to be working on sci-fi thriller Moonfall which tells the story of a mysterious force knocking the moon from its orbit around Earth and sending it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it.
Directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day) the film stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley and Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak and Donald Sutherland.
The film was released in theaters on February 4, 2022.

Ad Age Creativity 2021
Framestore is honored to be nominated as a 2021 ‘VFX Company of the Year’ finalist by the Ad Age Creativity Awards. The prestigious awards “recognize excellent work, outstanding people, creative companies and exceptional production in marketing, advertising and tech," with finalists selected by some of the industry's greatest talent.

2021 BAFTA TV Win
Framestore was proud to win this year’s BAFTA Television Craft Award for Special, Visual and Graphic Effects for His Dark Materials - the second year running the creative studio has brought home the award.
The work took in 1400 shots and drew upon the expertise of some 450 Framestore staffers, from VFX experts and animators through to producers, engineers and editors. This season saw the worlds of Lyra Silvertongue and Will Parry expand in exciting new ways, with the heroes encountering new friends, new daemons and new dangers.

Kiyan Prince Foundation 'Long Live the Prince'
Framestore used deep fake technology in a ground-breaking anti-knife campaign to bring back Kiyan Prince, the schoolboy football prodigy who tragically died after being stabbed 15 years ago, as a virtual footballer. All money raised by the campaign will go towards The Kiyan Prince Foundation, the charity set up by Kiyan’s father to raise awareness about knife-crime.

SHEBA® Hope Reef Press
Framestore delivered a visual underwater masterpiece in a 90-second advert which showcased SHEBA®’s HOPE Reef – a man made reef built as part of the worlds-largest reef restoration programme. Framestore Pictures’ Director, Murray Butler and Framestore’s VFX Supervisor, Grant Walker created three complex-CG underwater environments, for the project and worked with leading coral biologist Professor David Smith to create a stunningly accurate depiction of what the reef will look like in five years time when the coral has fully re-grown.

New Trailer Revealed for 1899
We're thrilled to get our first look at the highly anticipated show 1899, the new series from Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar who brought us DARK. The eight episodes follow the mysterious circumstances around the voyage of an immigrant ship, with passengers from different backgrounds and nationalities united by their hopes and dreams for a new future.

Award Nominations 2021
Framestore is proud to have been nominated for the Special, Visual & Graphic Effects’ BAFTA TV Craft Awards for its work on His Dark Materials and The Crown. Huge congratulations to both teams that delivered such great work on these two shows.

Our team partnered with software developers Weightshift for a research project designed to shorten the animation process and minimize time-consuming tasks, the benefit of which can be seen in the photoreal creatures of Lady and the Tramp and His Dark Materials.

The Midnight Sky in IndieWire
Framestore VFX Supervisor Graham Page and Animation Supervisor Max Solomon sat down with IndieWire to discuss the Oscar-nominated VFX work of George Clooney's post-apocalyptic drama The Midnight Sky.
When creating the 'Ballet of Blood' sequence which features an injured astronaut inside an airlock, the team were presented with a unique challenge. With so much CG blood in the scene, it made sense to replace much of the environment, including the other characters, which were all added back in by hand.
