Melinka Thompson-Godoy
Melinka joined Framestore in 2022 as Head of Studio. She brings with her a wealth of film and episodic production knowledge and experience in all aspects of the industry, and a passion for shaping workplace culture.
Melinka has nearly 30 years of experience in the film industry. After studying Film Studies at Columbia University, gaining invaluable experience on various film sets and simultaneously working at New York Independent Film company Good Machine, Melinka served as Production Executive on the Oscar nominated and Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning film, American Splendor.
After a short stint working on location in Memphis and New Mexico, Melinka returned to New York to Amoeba Proteus, the VFX arm of Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures. After a couple of projects, Melinka went client side to work on Julie Taymor’s Across The Universe. The film employed many visual effects companies, connecting her with likeminded people who would later come full circle as colleagues throughout her career.
After Across the Universe, Melinka then joined Look Effects in Los Angeles, where she gained an Emmy nomination for Life After People. During her tenure at Look, she worked across episodic and film projects such as Pushing Daisies, 24, Speed Racer, Fast & Furious 5, and Black Swan and served as the overall Visual Effects Producer for the VES nominated sixth season of Lost.
After 4 years with Look Effects, Melinka moved to London to work at Double Negative. In her decade long career at DNEG, she produced Skyfall, three instalments of the Hunger Games franchise, Jason Bourne, Life, and Avengers: Infinity War before being promoted to Head of Production for DNEG’s Montréal office. There she had a hand in growing and cultivating the Montréal office from its infancy with a handful of people in production to a robust facility with nearly 100 production team members.
