Equity & Inclusion

We want to create a fair, inclusive, and welcoming workplace that celebrates diverse experiences and ensures equal access to opportunities for all. Social equity is central to our mission and success.

Our diverse talent drives our ability to solve problems creatively and innovatively for our clients and partners. We foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, ensuring our talented team feels valued, heard, and supported to reach their full potential. Businesses that embrace this approach consistently outperform others and are more resilient for the future.

Commitment Beyond the Workplace

We believe diversity and inclusion drive positive change within our organisation and the communities we serve. Our outreach focuses on engaging school students from underrepresented backgrounds. To address underrepresentation in VFX, we connect early in their educational journey, helping them explore opportunities before choosing subjects or career paths. We aim to broaden horizons and build a more equitable, representative future for our industry. See below for our dedicated outreach efforts.

Connecting with Local Schools and Colleges through:

  • Workshops and Presentations: We host sessions offering insights into the VFX industry, helping students build networks and transferable skills.
  • Expert-Led Talks: Our experts inspire students by sharing their knowledge and experiences to inspire the next generation.
  • Sponsorships and Competitions: We sponsor competitions to encourage creativity and inclusivity in the arts.
  • Career Fairs: We attend school career fairs, guiding students on VFX career paths and connecting them with professionals.
  • Work Experience: Our studio program offers hands-on learning to deepen students’ understanding of VFX.
  • Guidance and Mentoring: A 2023 ERIC study of 35,000 UK students showed 75% want to join the creative sector but lack guidance. We provide accessible resources such as a fully accessible educational hub and several mentoring programs to bridge the gap between education and work.

Impactful Collaboration

Achieving equity and inclusivity requires collective effort. We proudly collaborate with organisations sharing our commitment to tackling societal inequalities, including:

NextGen Skills Academy | Access:VFX | Spark! Charity | City of Westminster Lions | STEM Ambassadors | We Are Stripes | Brightside | Women In Animation | CG Africa | 10,000 Black Interns | The Diversity Action Program

Measuring with Data

In the past year, our outreach initiatives supported over 1,500 students through 30 school visits, educational events or career fairs.

We run annual work experience, hosting 48 students in the UK and 8 in Canada this year.

We are improving data collection and analysis to better support underrepresented groups entering the VFX industry.

Fostering Belonging in Our Teams

Attracting diverse talent is just the start. We aim to ensure colleagues from underrepresented backgrounds feel supported and included, fostering a sense of belonging that encourages them to stay. This continuity strengthens our culture of diversity, driving innovation, creativity, and informed decision-making. Retention is key to turning diversity into sustainable inclusion, benefiting both Framestore and society.

Inclusion requires collective effort—empowering everyone to shape a more inclusive workplace. By engaging as a team, we harness diverse perspectives and ideas, fostering ownership and belonging. Only through collaboration can we create a workplace where all feel valued, heard, and included. See below for an overview of our retention and engagement efforts.

Diversity & Inclusion Calendar with Diversity Resources

In partnership with Diversity Resources, we offer Framestore employees the option to integrate a comprehensive calendar into their work schedules. It includes key diversity-related dates, their significance, and why they matter. The calendar also provides educational resources, celebration ideas, and thoughtful greeting suggestions to help our team engage meaningfully with diversity and inclusion initiatives year-round.

Positive Action Networks for EDI

Our Positive Action Networks (PANs) are volunteer groups across all offices, committed to driving social equity and positive change. Each PAN includes around 15 members passionate about creating positive change who meet monthly to shape initiatives aligned with our 2024 strategy.

Current Networks:

  • Events: Plans EDI events like webinars, film screenings, and fundraisers for occasions such as Black History Month and World Religion Day.
  • Training: Develops and implements social equity training programs, tailoring them to target audiences.
  • Marketing: Aligns internal and external promotion of diversity efforts with the EDI calendar.

Social Equity Newsletters

Our monthly newsletter is tailored to the unique needs of each studio, sharing updates on key dates, events, and educational resources to foster growth and understanding. Each issue is organized around a theme, diving into specific EDI topics while also recognizing smaller diversity observances. It includes links to interactive platforms for discussions, feedback, and engagement with Positive Action Networks. This newsletter reinforces our commitment to a diverse, inclusive workplace and ensures social equity remains a priority.

Measuring with Data

In 2024 we launched our first formal Social Equity Data Survey, for external applicants and our Framestore colleagues. This data gives us a baseline to measure our engagement and inclusion activities against and ensure that we are able to track the success of our future programmes.
